Roadster AI Video Prompts: Storyboard Drafts
The anatomy of a working prompt
Every successful Roadster-style prompt has five parts:
- Shot grammar: "one continuous shot, never a cut, camera locked…" — prevents the model from cutting and losing your car.
- Consistency lock: "keeps its exact make, model, paint and wheels in every frame" — the single most important sentence.
- Timed beats: explicit 0-2s / 2.5-6s blocks. Video models follow time better than adjectives.
- Performance notes: "deadpan," "never gasping, never smiling" — the comedy comes from restraint.
- Negative prompt: what to ban (see each template below).
These are storyboard drafts for your own experiments, not a tested recipe. Results vary by model, photo and re-roll; adjust the timing to your model and keep the cleanest take.
Prompt 1 — Ramp Flip & Thrust (12s, 9:16)
One continuous shot, camera locked low behind the vehicle at the foot of a giant curved ramp in a desert test facility, golden hour. The vehicle from the reference image keeps its exact make, model, paint and wheels in every frame. 0-2.5s: close-up from behind, engine hum, dust drifting. 2.5-6s: it climbs the curved wall until fully upside down, tires gripping, camera tilts with it. 6-7.5s: it launches off the top, blue thrusters fire from the rear, smoke rolls toward the camera. 7.5-10s: it flips through mid-air once, slow-motion beat. 10-12s: it lands in a cloud of smoke and drives out with headlights on. The vehicle never changes appearance. No text, no watermark.
Negative prompt (Kling):distorted wheels, melting body, extra wheels, extra doors, text, watermark, cut, scene change
Prompt 2 — Day 1 of Owning a Roadster (15s, 9:16)
One continuous shot, never a cut, from a camera fixed low behind the front seats of a car, looking forward through the windshield and up through the glass roof. The person from the reference image sits in the driver's seat and stays completely calm and deadpan in every beat - never gasping, never smiling. 0-2s: leafy suburban street, the driver glances back over their shoulder into the camera, deadpan, then faces forward and pulls away. 2.5-5.5s: bumper-to-bumper traffic, brake lights ahead, horns. 5.5s: the car lifts straight up out of the jam with a whoosh, other cars still visible below. 6-10s: it flies through clouds alongside other flying cars, wind rushing. 10-12.5s: space, the Earth's curve below, the moon ahead. 12.5-15s: it lands in front of a row of charging stations on the moon, a charger chimes. Only the world outside the glass changes. The camera never moves. Sound effects only, no music.
Variations: swap the car reference for a minivan or school bus (highest-share version), or the driver reference for a pet photo.
Prompt 3 — Make My Car Fly (10s, 9:16, evergreen)
One continuous shot at golden hour on a quiet suburban street. 0-2.5s: the person from reference image 1 walks up behind the car from reference image 2, glances back at the camera once, opens the door and gets in. 2.5-4.5s: door shuts. 4.5-6.5s: rocket boosters fire under the rear bumper, white-hot flame and smoke roll toward the camera. 6.5-10s: the car lifts off, wheels still turning, and flies away nose-first into the sky. The car keeps its exact make, model, color and wheels. Camera handheld shake at lift-off for realism.
Prompt 4 — Roadster Kickflip (12s, 9:16)
One continuous shot, camera locked low and wide at the side of a concrete launch pad at a desert test facility, golden hour. The vehicle from the reference image keeps its exact make, model, paint and wheels in every frame. 0-2.5s: the vehicle accelerates across the pad toward the launch ramp, engine whine building, dust kicking up. 2.5-4.5s: it hits the ramp and launches into the air, nose rising. 4.5-8s: mid-air kickflip - the vehicle rotates a full kickflip along its length like a skateboard, slow-motion beat, faint blue thruster glow underneath. 8-10s: it completes the rotation, levels out flat, suspension compressing as it drops. 10-12s: it lands flat on all four wheels with a thud, tire smoke, and drives out of frame. The vehicle never changes appearance.
Variations: low cars should flip most cleanly; sports coupes and sedans are the easy mode. Tall SUVs and vans are the hard mode, so expect more re-rolls.
Model-specific tips
- Veo: strong at audio — keep the "sound effects only, no music" line and let it score the beats. It respects timed beats well.
- Kling: fast and cheap, but watch big airborne motion — wheels can distort at lift-off. Use the negative prompt above, and try 3 runs; keep the cleanest.
- Model choice: Compare the same reference image and storyboard across candidates. Compatibility, cost and quality need separate measurement.
FAQ
Do these Roadster AI video prompts work in both Kling and Veo?
They are written to be model-agnostic: one continuous shot, a consistency line and timed beats. We have not benchmarked every prompt on every model, so expect to re-roll and adjust the timing for the model you use.
Why does my AI video change the car halfway through?
Usually a missing consistency line ("keeps its exact make, model, paint and wheels in every frame") or a reference photo where the vehicle is cropped. Use a photo with the whole vehicle in frame and restate the line every few beats. In our own tests the hardest moment was the inverted flip, when the camera sees the underside your photo does not show; a wider camera on that beat helped.
How much does it cost to generate one Roadster AI video clip?
Doing it yourself depends on your model, resolution and how many re-rolls you need. Our generator charges per finished video: $9.99 for one, $24.99 for three or $69.99 for ten, with Ramp Flip available now. If a video fails for a technical reason, the video credit it used is returned to your balance so you can try again. This returns a video credit; it is not a cash refund.
When to just use the tool
A clean, consistent result usually takes several attempts: the model distorts wheels, cuts away or swaps your car mid-stunt, and you re-roll. Our Ramp Flip template runs a recipe we validated in our own effect tests: one whole-car photo in, a 9:16 vertical video of about 10 seconds out. 1 video is $9.99, 3 are $24.99 and 10 are $69.99. Kickflip, Day 1 and Make My Car Fly are coming soon.
